Licking County Municipal Court is located in the city of Newark . The Licking County Municipal Court is a system created by statute. In some cases the territorial jurisdiction of this Court shares jurisdiction with smaller Mayors Courts. Damages of up to $15,000 are handled by the monetary jurisdiction of this Court. Monetary jurisdiction of up to $3,000 is handled by the small claims court. This Court also has original jurisdiction in all traffic violations that occurred in Licking County and those not first heard by a Mayors Court . This Court also has original jurisdiction regarding misdemeanors that occurred in Licking County and those not first heard by a Mayors Court .
