Licking County currently does not have a fair. Therefore, residents of Licking attend the Hartford Fair and the Knox County Fair.
The Hartford Fair was first held in 1858 on land leased by Taber Sharp and was organized under the name "The Hartford Fair Society". The Uniqueness of this fair comes from its organization. It incorporates directors from Licking County and two neighboring counties, Delaware and Knox. Racing was one of the first attractions at this fair and today the Hartford Fair hosts the following exhibitions and attractions: Championship NABA Bull Riding, Demolition Derby, Motorcross Racing, Rough Truck Contest, Open Barrel Horse Show, and Championship Horse Pull. The Junior Fair includes exhibitors from all of Licking Co. and portions of Delaware and Knox Counties .
The Knox County Fairgrounds was first held at the home of William Bonar in 1847. What was once known as the Lake Hiawatha Park and Resort officially opened in 1895 later became land and property of the Knox County Fairgrounds in the 1920's. Today, the Knox County Fair highlights the awareness of agriculture as an important and continuing industry in the county. A strong emphasis on youth activities and accomplishments are placed each year. The Fair is host to a variety of junior fair activities ranging from 4-H booths to animal showmanship competitions to the crowning of fair royalty.
