The Licking County Sheriff's Office operates under the following Five Divisions: Patrol division, Detective division, Civil/Impounds division, Records division, and, Jail division. This triple accredited agency (CALEA, ACA and NCCHC) was the first in Ohio and the tenth in the nation to achieve this elite status.

The Detective Division closely cooperates with Federal law enforcement agencies, internal divisions of the Licking County Sheriff's Office, and other local, and state agencies. The members of the Detective Division strive to combat crime by the provision of prompt, diligent, and proactive investigations. In order to keep this mission the Detective Division uses the most current technological resources available.

The Licking County Sheriff's Office offers the S.T.O.P.P.E.D Program. This Programs is also known as the “Sheriff's Telling Our Parents & Promoting Educated Drivers.” This program originated from the Onondago County Sheriff's Office in Syracuse New York , and was offered in Licking County as the result of approximately 1,303 injury crashes, 3,515 property damage crashes, and 19 fatal crashes involving approximately 22 deaths in 2004. Another Program offered by the Licking County Sheriff's Office is called V.I.N.E. (Victim Information and Notification Everyday). V.I.N.E is a service that allows anyone residing in Licking County to retrieve information about the status of an inmate in the Licking County Justice Center , via phone.
