The Licking County Health Department operates under the following divisions: Environmental Health, Health Education, Nursing, Birth& Death Records, Emergency Responce, CFHS, and WIC. Their mission is to prevent disease, promoting healthy lifestyles, and protecting the environment for the residents of the Licking County Combined General Health District, including Licking County 's Townships, Villages and the Cities of Heath and Pataskala.
The Environmental Health Staff enforces environmental health regulations relating to clean air and water, safe food, proper waste disposal, and safety. The Environmental Health program areas include but are not limited to: Sewage Treatment Systems,Private Water Systems, Food Service / Retail Food Establishments, Public Bathing Beaches , Rabies Control (Animal Bites), Radon, Indoor Air Quality, and Mosquito Control.
Every year the Licking County Health Department offers a free, comprehensive program to over 1000 third grade students in 35 classrooms in 7 school districts. This program covers an overall understanding of wellness including physical, social, and emotional health. The Nursing Division offers the following services: Childhood Immunizations, Flu Clinics Adult Immunizations, Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps (BCMH), Tuberculosis (TB) Control, Communicable Disease Control, At-Risk Pregnancy Consultation, Emergency Planning and Response, and Dental Care Case Management and Referral.
